RE: SPECIAL THANKS TO MY SPONSORS
Dear members of Grace Lutheran Church, praise the Lord! My name is Rosette and this letter intends to thank you so much for your support towards my education; before my main objective of this communication, please allow me to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2024. Thank you so much for my gift of a pair of shoes and a towel; you are indeed special people to us, and thank you for always being there for us. I can’t remember if a Christmas ever passed without receiving gifts from you. God of Nazareth I will always ask you to protect our friends and their families.
Thank you for choosing to support my education, because if not for your support I wouldn’t have been in the position to attend and or even finish secondary level of education. When I finished primary level I could not stay mother. I was offered shelter by a family of an Anglican priest of Central Buganda Diocese, by then the Dean of St. John’s Cathedral, by names, Kezlon Kiwanuka Semanda and Lydia the wife to the priest. They offered me other necessities within their reach and the family loved me very much but had no means to support my education. I am thankful to this family for the love I received and for taking me in as their own. It was still a member of this family who knew about Kenneth’s work with the youth and children who contacted him on my behalf to seek a chance for me to be recruited among the students he supported for their education.
The next thing after some days was Kenneth himself coming home to speak to me about myself directly. I didn’t know what would happen then, but honestly, after sharing with Kenneth whom I came to start proudly calling Uncle Kenneth, I felt relieved of my challenges. He did not say I was to be sponsored right away, but when you speak to him you feel as if all your problems are gone. He gives you hope and you get the sense that he is listening to you despite your age. Anyway, the next News I received after about a week was that Kenneth had called the bursar’s office at my School then, Kasaka Secondary School, and asked for my name to be added to the list of his sponsored students at the school. I then received my first letter from Ann, RIP! A member of Grace.
I am proud to say, that after all the secondary school levels, I joined the YMCA Wandegeya branch in Kampala for my Diploma in Fashion and Fabric Design. It was through Grace’s entire support that I finished my Diploma. I will never forget something which I never thought something like this would ever happen to me. When Uncle Kenneth told me about it the first time I could not believe my ears. He invited me to his home with his wife Sylivia and told me he was not sure how much time my sponsor Ann still had with us on the earth because she was ill. She had requested Kenneth to think through how much it would require of me to finish my Diploma such that she lives that funds with the church! Uncle Kenneth told me that the reason he called me was to ask me to pray for her, especially at this time, and to know the friend I have in life. Tears couldn’t stop coming out of my eyes and I was speechless for days. Wherever you are my dear Ann, you will always be in my heart and my prayers. I want you to know that I performed very well and graduated as you planned for me in Fashion and Fabric Design and on my graduation day, my hands made the outfit I wore for the skills I gained and you paid for it. How I wish you were still with us!
Thank you so much the Grace Family for the support of our education through Wide Smiles. I wanted to tell you about a friend called Ann I had in my life and the bond we had together. She will always be treasured in my life. Also about Grace even after the death of my friend Ann, they carried me on till the end, and for Mr. Kenneth, I have no words to explain his goodness!
God bless you all
Rosette Nanono
