Dear Grace Lutheran Church Brethren,

I greet you all in the name of the Most High and our Lord Jesus Christ! I thank God for our gift of life to this date.

I have many reasons why I should be writing you, but this time around this letter is purposely intended to thank you for your support ever since I joined the scholarship program. I am glad also to inform you that I am only weeks away from graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Kyambogo University! I wish Lucy could see all this when I graduate and kick my gown! Lucy wherever you are, you will always be in my heart and thoughts.

My name is already pinned on the graduation list released a few days back. The graduation is scheduled to take place on 7th December 2023. I want to sincerely thank you so much from the deepest of my heart for the love and care extended to me during my education accomplishment! It wouldn’t have been possible for me and my uneducated aged grandmother whom I was left with when my parents died.  Things were so tough then and I was at the edge of dropping out before even reaching senior four at Kasaka Secondary School. When the school Administration spoke to Mr. Kenneth about the education support, I was working for the school, in the school garden to make up for my school fees, but I was missing so much time on my studies and could not be in a boarding section. I am so grateful that you considered me the opportunity otherwise; I would have missed out on this opportunity to get the education I desperately needed and would now be like the many youths who have missed out on getting an education.

After completing all my modules at university, and internship, I joined Prudential Insurance Uganda as a Sales Agent, while continued searching for a better avenue especially linked with my education line and expertise. I am here to inform you that even before the graduation date, It is amazing that God is beginning to answer my prayers and reward my efforts through school; in August 2023, I was invited for an interview with Corps Africa where I applied to volunteer and gladly I was given a placement. I am off for the pre-service training on 16th October and will be finished by November 2023.

It gives me confidence that now, is my time to put into practice what I have studied and I desire to serve the local communities and empower the people using the knowledge and skills that I have attained to cause a change and witness the communities developing. I look forward to working with many other development partners in our country to facilitate community development even after the volunteer-ship service period of the 10 months with Corps Africa.

I love you all in the name of Jesus, may God bless you abundantly. All the smiles on my heart are because of you!

Yours,

Kibuuka Brian.
